Your child may tryout for membership into Oregon Soccer Academy at the annual
Fall Season Tryouts held each spring. The Fall Season focuses on skill and technique
development, team building, and having players improve their "big game"
concepts.
Individuals who are invited to join OSA will receive the best coaching philosophy
the Northwest offers. Head coach, Bernie Fagan, selects his coaching staff personally.
Each team coach is chosen because of an ability to be a good role model for
today's youth, as well as for a proven history of coaching ability.
The club's goal is to develop Premier and upper Division teams. Rosters will be formed to achieve that goal. Once teams are formed, practices are held twice a week and will focus on specific individual techniques and team tactical awareness. It is important that the fundamentals of soccer be well established in the younger years of classic soccer.
Teams to be formed for the 2004 Fall Season:
U11, girls and boys
U12, girls and boys
U13, girls and boys
U14, girls (a U14 boys team is not projected for the 2004 season)
2004-5 season age requirements for Fall Season:
U11 Birthdate 8-1-93 to 8-31-94 (Note, 13 months of eligibility!)
U12 Birthdate 8-1-92 to 7-31-93
U13 Birthdate 8-1-91 to 7-31-92
U14 Birthdate 8-1-90 to 7-31-91
Should your child be selected to join OSA during the Fall Season
Academy Training Center enrollment is expected! The ATCs offer fundamentals for team building and full participation is necessary for U11-12 players. Players at the U13-14 level may opt to attend two of the three weeks offered.
Preseason and season practices will be held at Oregon Episcopal School. Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays (schedule to be confirmed) with occasional Saturday practices.
Summer tournaments may include games Thursday through Sunday. All OSA sponsored tournaments are in the Portland-Metro area.
Player breaks are incorporated into the summer schedule. In order for the team to function well members should attend the pre-season practices and summer tournaments in preparation for the fall season. Please note that the schedule offers two designated player breaks which will assist you in making your summer vacation schedule and plans. See our Calendar of Events.
Season games are played on Saturdays and/or Sundays during September and October.
Post-season events include local area tournaments held during the month of November and the OSA Awards Ceremony.
Commitment is expected from the players and their families to arrive promptly to all practices, games and tournaments. The coaching staff must be notified in advance if a player is unable to attend.
The "Code of Conduct" is a document outlining the responsibilities of the player, parent, coach and club. Oregon Soccer Academy knows success can be achieved when all interested parties are aware of the expectations early. Therefore, the Code of Conduct is provided to each family and signatures of commitment are required from the player and parent prior to acceptance into OSA.
Community Involvement through Outreach opportunities is also encouraged. Club members provide support for our friends at Special Olympics by assisting the athletes during their annual tournament. This is a wonderful time for OSA players to interact in their community. Other opportunities, such as participation in Race for the Cure, are also promoted.
Parent Meeting attendance is required of one or both parents. An enrollment package will be sent to families prior to this meeting. The package includes a list of the necessary documentation to be reviewed and returned to the registrar at the meeting.
The Annual Schedule will give you the overview of the fall season expectations, winter season, and spring outdoor season. Please note that the schedule offers two designated player breaks which will assist you in making your summer vacation schedule and plans. See our Calendar of Events.
